1. The exploding walls project is an MYP project that we are doing to raise awareness and spread information about a certain issue. It is called the exploding walls project because we are spreading this information everywhere, all around the world, using the Internet, breaking through the walls of a classroom.
2. It is worthwhile to post projects like this one online because then many, many more people have access to our work and we also try a little harder if we know that more people will see our work.
3. Our group decided to make our final product for this project a web site. To create this web site, we used Google Page Creator. To make the video of our top 5 concerns for our next president, we used a very useful web site called Voice Thread. For posting our project online, we had to follow some basic rules: we couldn’t use our names, we had to be careful to use correct punctuation and grammar, we couldn’t give our exact location, and we had to keep in mind that people all over the world could see our work.
4. My role in this project was to research Super Tuesday and make a page for it on our website. Also, I had the job of making our Voice Thread, along with someone else in our group.
5. Here is our Presidential Campaign ‘08 website.

As you can figure out by reading the other posts about our Elections Project, we are making a web page with information about the elections. Right now our group is at the point where have collected almost all of our information, and have started putting it all together on the web page.

So far, we have gotten a lot done on our project. We have started to create our website, and have gathered lots of information. One interesting piece of information that I found is that Democrats in the South started Super Tuesday( it was just a regional primary then) in 1988 to try to get more votes.

Our project has been changed since the time I last wrote about it. Now, our project is to make a list of the top 10 concerns we would like our next president to address, and to make a “commercial” sort of thing describing those 10 things. We are also supposed to write a letter to our next president about those 10 concerns.
My job in the project so far is to research Super Tuesday, and write down all of the state’s whose primary elections are on that day this year.
So far, we have brainstormed ideas for our project and ways to stay organized and keep information. We have also thought out the roles that each person will do for the project. I have also already done my research (which took 5 minutes) on Super Tuesday.
For this project, we are supposed to : not plagiarize, read, analyze, think, and write.

Animal Farm is the story of animals that overthrow their master and take over the farm. They run it themselves. At the beginning of the story, it starts out as “every animal for himself or herself”, but before long, the pigs take control of the farm. After a while, one of the pigs, Napoleon, is elected president of the animals. He gives the pigs and the dogs, who act as his bodyguards, extra privileges that the other animals don’t get, and changes the meanings of their original 7 commandments to suit his desires. The whole purpose of the rebellion (overthrowing their master) starts as being to get rid of all humans, and that “2 legs bad, 4 legs good”. But by the end of the story, the pigs are indistinguishable from the men, work together, and do the same things for entertainment. The pigs also treat the animals badly and under feed them, just as it was when their master was in charge.
My project is about the upcoming elections and the presidential campaign. We are going to research the nomination process and the presidential candidates, and learn about what goes into a presidential campaign. A connection from animal farm to my project is that they have an election in the story where they nominate Napoleon as their president. The big difference though is that in animal farm, Napoleon is the only candidate running for president so he wins automatically. In our political system, there is always at least one candidate from each party running for office, so there are multiple people who can win. My job for this project is to research the different presidential candidates and write a little bit about them.

- One connection between Animal Farm and the peguin article is that the new penguins from Ohio convinced the other penguins at the zoo that they were worthy of being followed. This is a lot like when the pigs convince the other farm animals that they are worthy of bring followed in Animal Farm. Both the pigs and the new penguins got others to follow them and established a sense of leadership between them and the other animals.
- A second connection between Animal Farm and the penguin article is that the penguins follow the lead of the new seemingly without questioning them. This is similar to all of the farm animals following the lead of the pigs without questioning their intentions or ideas. Both of these groups follow a leader readily without any hesitation.

The 46 Magellanic penguins at the San Fransisco zoo have always been somewhat lazy and spoiled. They used to just stay in their burrows all day from November to February, but not this year. On Christmas eve, 6 new Magellanic penguins from Ohio moved in with the San Fransisco penguins. After a few hours, the new penguins convince the 46 other penguins that they’re worthy of being followed, and soon all of the penguins are swimming round and round the pool. Many of these 46 original penguins haven’t gone swimming for 5 years. But now, these penguins are swimming non stop. They only drag themselves out of the pool in the evening to sleep. Their zoo keeper hopes it will stop soon, because it is really hard to take care of the penguins.
“A Coddled Flock”
The penguins at the San Fransisco Zoo have always been a coddled flock, meaning spoiled and pampered.
