This is going to be my last post of the year! Probably my last post ever because I doubt I’ll actually write anything on my blog in high school in the fall. Anyway, thanks for reading anything I’ve written over the year, and feel free to comment on anything you would like. Over the course of the year, I think I have kind of grown as a writer because I find it getting easier and easier to just sit down and write, even if it is just a short simple poem that I’m working on. Although I don’t like writing essays, I think that has also gotten easier with practice. Oh, and also, if you have a blog, you can leave your blog address in a comment if you want so I can check out your blog and see some other people’s work. Bye, and have a nice summer!

Ok so anyways, that leaves one question to be answered: what should we do with our blogs? I would like to be able to keep my blog so that I can see all of my writing from this year. It will be kind of fun in a few years to go back and read what I wrote. I think that we should just get the rights to write whatever we want on our blogs, if we want to. I also want to be able to still read other people’s blogs from our school.

Acts I, II, III

Orlando and Oliver are two brothers who don’t get along. Their father has just died, and so the family’s money has been left to Oliver. Orlando is the younger of the two and decides he wants to go out into the world to get away from his brother. Orlando decides to go wrestle Charles, the Duke’s champion wrestler. Meanwhile, Rosalind and Celia, two cousins, are at court. Rosalind’s father has been banished by Celia’s father, his younger brother. Rosalind is extremely sad about this. When Orlando comes to court to wrestle Charles, Rosalind and Orlando immediately fall in love. Celia and Rosalind try to convince Orlando not to fight because they think he will be killed, but he will not be dissuaded.

After Orlando successfully beats Charles in the wrestling match, Duke Frederick suddenly gets mad at Rosalind, and banishes her from court. Celia decides that she cannot live without Rosalind, so the two girls run away together into the forest. They disguise themselves so that no one will recognize them. Rosalind dresses up as a guy named Ganymede, and Celia dresses up as a girl named Aliena. Meanwhile, Orlando also runs away into the forest because he learns that his brother Oliver is trying to kill him.

Celia and Rosalind bring Touchstone, the court fool with them when they run away. In the woods, Touchstone meets a young shepherdess named Audrey, and they fall in love. They decide to get married right away, but Touchstone wants it to be illegally, so that he can leave her easily. Also, Celia and Rosalind are finding love poems and songs hung on tree branches and shrubs all over the forest, and the author seems to be deeply in love with Rosalind. Celia claims that it is Orlando who is writing them. She says she knows this because she found him in the forest, and he told her. Rosalind, dressed up as Ganymede, (a guy) goes to Orlando and tells him that she knows how to cure the sickness of love. She claims that if Orlando pretends that she (who seems to be a guy) is the Rosalind he is in love with, and if he woos her (as a guy) as he would Rosalind, then he won’t be in love with Rosalind anymore. They then go off to try to cure him of his lovesickness.

Walk into class a little after the late bell

Tuesday

Not much better

Still want the weekend back

Almost the middle of the week

Eat breakfast much slower than I should

Have to rush out of the house

But still get to school on time

Wednesday

Halfway through the week

Only two days until Friday

School doesn’t seem quite so bad

Get to see my friends

It’s going ok until we have a test

Absolutely hate school now

Thursday

Tomorrow’s Friday!

But I still have to make it through today

Luckily though

I don’t have to do any homework

Because I have until Monday

Thanks to our block schedule

Friday

One more day ‘till the weekend

Don’t mind waking up

We barely have any work

Can mostly goof around

After school no homework

Can just hang out with friends

Saturday

Can sleep as long as I want

Have a whole day to do anything

Eat breakfast late

My favorite day of the week

With all the time you want

All you have to do is have fun

Sunday

Tomorrow there’s school

Can still sleep late

But it’s not as much fun

‘Cause I know that tomorrow

The whole thing starts again

School and work and no relaxing

I read this poem on a student’s blog from Atlanta. I found it through Space, the online litterary magazine for our english class. I liked the way the author took details from the environment around her, and turned it into a poem about where she is from. One of my favorite quotes from the poem is from the author’s description of her room:

“I am from music blasting from speakers,
From piles of shirts, shorts, socks, and sneakers
From every wall, you see a picture
And laughs and memories are within these mixtures”

I can relate to the imagery here, because my room is somewhat similar. It’s kind of like a window into her life. I like the way she turned things so regular and simple into meaningful and descriptive poetry.

One of my absolute favorite foods is chocolate. I like almost all kinds of chocolate. I love the smooth rich taste when you put it in your mouth, and the way it melts. It is so good. I also like almost anything chocolate flavored, like chocolate ice cream, brownies, chocolate milkshakes, you name it. Basically, I like most all desserts.

Another food that I really like is Cesar salad. I like flavorful, garlic flavored dressing, and the crispy, crunchy lettuce. Cesar salad is also good with chicken in it.

In addition to chocolate and Cesar salad, I like bread. My favorite kind of bread is baguette. I like it with butter, or turned into garlic bread. I also like pita bread. It is so yummy toasted and dipped in humus. This brings me to tortilla chips. With salsa, they make a delicious snack.

The last thing that I can think of that I like is lemonade. It is prefect to quench your thirst, and satisfy your taste buds. Sometimes I make it by hand, and then it tastes even better.

Even though this might make me sound gluttonous and piggy, I’m not, and just absolutely love these foods.

We also saw lots of HUGE trees, so big that they seems to go on for miles:

Here is the trunk of one of those trees: And looking up at one from the bottom: Another tree trunk

On some of our hikes we saw waterfalls, rivers, and lakes, and there were some places where you could swim:

There were also giant canyons where we could see down for what seemed like miles.

And Big rocks that were especially pretty at sunset.

We saw geo-thermal features at Mt. Lassen national park, like this burning hot, bubbling mud pot:
